What is NoteProfile?
NoteProfile is a free online community where musicians and fans come together to share their love of music. Artists and aspiring artists can promote their music videos for free. They can also enter into contests to win prizes including cash, recording contracts, equipment and other cool stuff.
NoteProfile can serve as a virtual stage to promote your music and expose your talents to potentially millions of viewers from all over the world.
Fans can participate by supporting their favorite artists and talking to them and each other through our forums.
NoteProfile is about sharing music, reviews and ideas within a supportive musical community.

How is NoteProfile different from other sites? Other contests?
NoteProfile provides a safe, fair, non-manipulated and level playing field for a variety of music competitions. We are more than just an online karaoke site. We showcase all kinds of music genres and styles. We welcome artists at all levels.

NoteProfile is 100% fan driven, meaning that our fans vote and determine the winner of each contest. There are no long, drawn-out and expensive auditions to go through. No layers of bureaucracy or shady politics. We have no rude judges to deflate your talent. NoteProfile is the supportive online music community!

What can NoteProfile do for me as an artist?
NoteProfile brings the stage to you … and your talent to the world. We provide an incredibly powerful medium to promote and sell your music to potentially millions of fans all over the globe. If you’ve got the talent, we’ve got the exposure!

We have designed a very effective, low cost and safe means for artists at all levels to

• get their music videos seen and rated by fans worldwide
• continually improve and sell their music
• increase their fan base
• win valuable prizes

Who is eligible?
You must be at least 18 years old to become a member and participate in NoteProfile as either an artist or fan/voter. Younger musicians and fans aged 13-17 may also participate with parental consent. Click here for details.

Who can vote?
Anyone who has signed up as a member on NoteProfile – including registered contestants – can vote. It’s easy and fun!
You may cast only one vote per artist per day.
You may vote for as many artists as you wish per day.

Who are the judges?
Registered online voters are the only ones who vote. We are 100% fan driven. NoteProfile has replaced mean, cynical judges who can override the voice of the audience with supportive fans clapping just for you!

How do I join?
It’s easy and free! To create your membership account, click here [link to membership form] and fill out the E-Z form. You must have a valid email address. We will send you an email confirmation. Follow the link to validate your NoteProfile account.

Can I join and not compete?
Yes. NoteProfile is a music community – artists and fans, voters and non-voters are all welcome here.
If you intend to compete later you can become a member for free and upload your work at a future time.

If you choose to join and participate as a fan, you can do music reviews, post to our Forum, connect with performers, and of course, vote for and connect with your favorite artists.

I am not an artist. Do I have to register?
No. Anyone can visit NoteProfile and view performances without being registered. However, you must register to be eligible to vote, post comments or join a fan club.

Is there a cost?
NoteProfile membership is totally free.
You can also enter contests for free and be eligible to win prizes.
To be eligible for larger prizes (coming soon!) there will be a small fee. Check back for specific details on this upcoming feature of NoteProfile contests.

Where do I find details in NoteProfile contests?
Click on "Current Contests" for currently playing and upcoming contests.

How do I enter NoteProfile contests?
First, you need to have an account open with us.
Once a new competition is announced you can pre-register directly from your account. Click on "my contests" then select the song(s) you want to enter and select the competition you are entering.
You can enter multiple competition categories.
You can enter multiple songs in a contest.
Next you need to agree to terms and conditions (this must be done every time you enter a new NoteProfile competition).
You are now ready to compete.
You have a choice to time your entry into the contest before or during the competition. Entry closes three (3) days before the end of the event.

What if I perform under more than one name?
If you want to submit videos under multiple artist names (for example, solo and with a band) you will need a separate account for each artist name. You will also need a different email address for each account.

Can I enter my song in the same contest more than once?
Our goal is to keep it fair for new artists and songs. Accordingly, if you earn a top 10 spot in a category we ask that you not reenter that song again in the same category. However, you may enter the song in another category.
You may also enter a different song in the category in which you finished in the top 10.
If your song does not make it to a top 10 spot, you can reenter the some in the same category as many times as you like – until you earn a top 10 spot.

Can I promote my songs in the contests?
That’s the whole idea! We get a large volume of traffic on NoteProfile already, but we encourage you to drive traffic directly to your profiles and songs. You can promote your song clip by right clicking on your NoteProfile performer photo clip and copy & pasting the photo link into emails, other web sites, message boards, etc.

Bear in mind that it is a federal crime to "buy" anyone’s vote. We record a database of all activity on the NoteProfile site to keep all competitions open, fair and honest.

Are live auditions necessary to compete on NoteProfile?
No!> This is a huge plus for NoteProfile performers!
We cut out this time-consuming, often demoralizing and expensive process and go straight to the competition.

Everyone is welcome on NoteProfile. We are an exclusively online venue designed for everyone to have an equal opportunity to publish their works and compete in our contests.

Do I need to have a performer profile?
Although not "required" it is in your best interest to include profile information in your personal "MyNotes" section. Fans and music industry professionals who have visited your songs will want to learn more about the artist behind them. Your personal story is part of your artist identity. NoteProfile is all about increasing your profile – this is not the place to be shy!

How do I update my "MyNotes" page?
You can make changes to your profile at any time by logging in and clicking the Profile tab. Once you have made the desired changes click the Update button. Don’t forget to click Update or your changes will not be saved!

How do I upload my music?
All submissions must be in video format. We accept seven (7) different video formats so you should have no trouble getting yours to load.
Formats we can accept are: avi, wav, wmv, mpg, mpeg or .asf.
Your NoteProfile account has 4 Megs of memory, typically enough space for a complete video.
Click the "browse" box on the NoteProfile Upload New Video page.
Navigate to the file containing the video you want to upload.
Double click the on the file for that video.
Click "Upload" and wait for the file to be completely uploaded. It typically takes a minute or two.
Your song file will now appear on the NoteProfile Upload New Video page and on the Home page.

What if I don’t have a video?
In this day and age, there’s no excuse for any artist who wants exposure to not have a performance video! You don’t need a professional quality video to enter a NoteProfile competition.

Do I need to include my lyrics?
We strongly recommend it. Including your lyrics really completes your performance. It is the #1 “must-do” to enhance and protect your work.
Here are some important reasons why you should upload your lyrics:

• It provides you copyright protection.
• It gives your fans another way to connect to your music.
• Fans love to follow along and memorize and sing along with original lyrics.
• This it your chance to win over new fans with your sincere words.
• Lyrics eliminate the possibility of misinterpretation. The world gets exactly the message you intend.
• Your lyrics make your work searchable by search engines, giving you a lot more exposure!
• You’ll get the attention of industry players, demonstrating you can produce works at a professional level.
• Forces you to get your work into print and drives you to keep improving!

What if my song is instrumental?
No problem. If you want to include something in the lyrics area, just type “solo” or a description of your song. The more information you can provide to help fans/voters understand your creative process and connect with you, the better your chances for success.
Example: Enjoy my original electric jazz solo recorded in a loft in France with two local musicians in 2007. This was our first cut and we were never able to top this. We are currently writing lyrics for this arrangement, but we welcome ideas. If you are interested in submitting lyrics or working with us, email us at (your email address).

Should I include photos?
Absolutely! NoteProfile is committed to profiling the best artists and we want everyone to have all the tools to make it big! Statistics show that on NoteProfile great pictures are clicked on 4:1 over boring photos. Seriously. Super interesting angles/props and sexy poses are core attention getters. When you’re talking about the music industry, your look is the first thing people pay attention to. No one gets to the next level without showing their confidence and passion and giving fans the opportunity to really see who they are!

How do I upload photos?
Uploading a photo is very similar to uploading your video.
Click the "browse" box on the NoteProfile Upload page. This opens an Explorer window on your computer.
Navigate this window to locate where you stored your photo on your computer.
Click the file for your photo.
Click "open."
Your photo file will now appear on the NoteProfile Upload page.

What are the prizes?
Currently NoteProfile pays $100 per contest with larger, more exciting prizes being considered and added as we continue to grow.

How do I know if I have advanced or won?
NoteProfile will notify you via email.

How do I collect my prize winnings?
The easiest, fastest and most secure way to collect contest winnings is through your PayPal account.
If you do not have a PayPal account NoteProfile will issue you a check within XXX days of the contest close.

What if someone steals my songs?
Don’t worry. The law is on your side. By publishing your work in the public domain on the Internet you have established a stronger claim to your musical works. No one can legally download or share your works without your written permission. In the US all works are protected as they are created. Always include the Copyright © [date]/All Rights Reserved clause whenever you publish your music or lyrics. Visit the USPTO.com website and locate the copyright tab for in-depth explanations on how and why to protect your music.

Having technical problems?
1. I never received a confirmation email after registering.
Check your spam/bulk mail folder. It is probably in there. Be sure to add info@noteprofile.com to your address book so future emails don’t get filtered out.

2. When I try to register it says this email address is already registered.
Either you have already registered and have not yet received your confirmation email or your email is already in our system. Try registering under a secondary email.

3. I forgot my password.
On the Login page, enter your email address and click "forgot password." An email with your NoteProfile password will be sent to you.

How do I unsubscribe?
We hope you never will, but... in the event you ever wish to unsubscribe, simply click the “Unsubscribe” link located at the bottom of any email you have received from us.
